Four metres of plain brown cotton sotton, unstitched, with eight buttons, a tag and a carry bag, and 2 metres each for shirt and trouser. Brown is the colour you buy when the suit is going to be worn rather than kept, because it takes dust off a motorbike ride and tea from a roadside dhaba without showing either, which makes it a daily suit and not a function one. The trade-off is that the cloth is plain the whole way through, with no texture and no weave pattern to lift it, so the tailor earns his money on this one and a plain brown suit still will not do for a wedding. Like all cotton sotton it is mid-weight: easy by day, thin on a cold morning without a layer over it.
